Valencia vs Barcelona Live on March 2

Valencia's 0-0 tie at home to Sporting Gijon last weekend was disappointing, but Unai Emery's side has been on fine form of late in the league, winning seven of its last nine Primera Division matches. That run has seen Valencia move above regional rival Villarreal into third place as the season enters its home straight. However, Emery's men face a difficult trip to Athletic Bilbao on Sunday and a struggle to make the last eight of the Champions League after last week's tie at home to Schalke. And club president Manuel Llorente hinted he may be looking for a new coach. "I can't guarantee we will renew Emery, even if we finish third," he said. David Albelda and Aritz Aduriz are sidelined, but Mehmet Topal should shake off a knock to be fit for the trip to San Mames.

Barcelona is still five points clear of fierce rival Real Madrid in the Primera Division, having beaten Athletic Bilbao with a late Lionel Messi goal last weekend. The Catalan club has also been boosted by the news that coach Pep Guardiola has signed a new contract to remain at the Nou Camp for one more season after this one. And striker David Villa, who has scored in each of the club's last three games, believes that is excellent news for everyone concerned with Barca. "It's a great piece of news," he said. "I hope he will stay here until I retire." Barca now travels to Mallorca, one of the few sides it has failed to beat this season, on Saturday. The two sides tied 1-1 at the Nou Camp earlier this season. Carles Puyol and Xavi are key absences for the Catalans. Jeffren Suarez is also out. Messi has shaken off a knock, however, and will start in Palma.
