Their Previous Meeting: It certainly has been a while since the Jets last met the Vikings. Looking back most, nay, all of the players I’m about to mention aren’t even on the team anymore! When the Jets did meet the Vikings during the regular season, which was in 2006, they won behind the strong performance behind Chad Pennington when it mattered. The last time they met didn’t matter as much as both teams would meet during the preseason in 2007, you know, before all hell broke loose and the team went headfirst into a tailspin during the season. The Jets were doomed from the start as a series of offensive miscues, mostly at the hands of Pennington, would see the Vikings defense score three defensive touchdowns off of three Jet turnovers. That isn’t to say the Jets didn’t keep the lead within reach though as scores by Nugent, McCareins and Pociask kept the team alive however, again, the offensive miscues overwhelmed the team and led to their ultimate 20-37 defeat. In the words of Laveranues Coles, the Jets “took one on the chin.”
